Stuck!

Sigh. I'm stuck here in Malaysia for Christmas once again. Berbanyak plans lah in the beginning. Was supposed to go to New York with my sis and my aunt, then that embassy guy just HAD to not approve my aunt's visa. I was all hyped up and like, YEAH! you know, Christmas in NY! Iiii'mmmm dreeeeaming of a whiiiiiiitee Christmassssss....(i've always loved that song, haha) but that fella broke my heart more than SPM fizik kertas 3 did ok. Then my mom was like, okay, nvm, go Singapore lah. why? JUST BECAUSE we have passports and it's CHEAP(-er than anywhere else in the world). So ok, let's go Singapore. It's not NY, but it's not Malaysia either. So got all hyped up once again, and was supposed to leave tomorrow. But what would you know! The floods just HAD to come and the KTM lines just HAD to be suspended lah. What a bummer! It's like God's trying to tell me: "You there! Stay in Klang! Don't go anywhere!" Sigh. So sad! But I suppose God knows what's best. So OK God, I'll be celebrating your birthday here in Good Ol' Grace Klang! =) yippee!

I watched curse of the golden flower today with Su Wei n Pearly in S.Pyramid, it was pretty nice really. (You two should watch more chinese period movies la! Get in touch with your roots! Apala eragon eragon all. haha.) So anyway, Jay Chou's a pretty good actor, not as stony as i thought he was. Oh! Oh! I was typing this halfway and the picture that i've been trying to post for Siyan finally appeared! WOOHOOOO!!!

I'm a frog! croak croak

This post is dedicated to Siyan, my bestie. Was supposed to be this longg longggg summary on how we roamed around in KL on Saturday without any prior experience on how exactly to roam around in KL, budden she's complaining that our blogs have way too many words, and even Ivan is complaining that he malas wanna read my blog...so why waste my energy typing gibberish right? ;p (I have been enlightened!)

So basically, you just need to know that both of us (yes, just the both of us) went to KL for some serious shopping on Saturday, and i'm tellin you, there's nothin like a whole day's worth of walking around and being on your feet non-stop to bring life to the term "shop till you drop". I honestly never knew shopping could be THIS exhausting. I lost my voice and I sound like a frog now. I couldn't even sing when I tried for the past two days and resorted to whispering the words out. How sad. And this is all because we didn't bring enough water and Siyan said she malas wanna buy water from Giant. So I survived the whole day on water contained in one pathetic little University of Melbourne tumbler. (Your fault lah Yan!! ;p)

Oh btw, she slept over for two nights. And she asked me to blog about her ear piercing experience, so yea, on Friday right before the Shakers concert, she got her ears pierced! Woohoo! And Grace and I were proud witnesses of it. (I didn't tell u this babe, but for a split second just before that scary lady was gonna cucuk your ears, I was worried that someone who used that thing before you might have AIDS, but apparently you're still kicking and alive, so watever ;p)

We basically had loads of fun and I came back around RM200 poorer after Saturday with feet feeling like it had just been frozen and a voice that sounded more like a frog, but it was well worth it. I went to places i've never gone to before in that crazy place called KL, and well, yea, it was fun!

Of fishes and kisses

I haven’t finished with Langkawi yet. I didn’t tell you about Pulau Paya.

So anyway, we excitedly went to Pulau Paya on the 3rd day of our trip, and to be really honest, I was disappointed. I was expecting to have an awesome time frolicking with the fishes and pretending like I actually know how to snorkel (snort), but I was, well, quite disappointed although I DID have fun.

First of all, the snorkeling gear was crap. The first gear I got was filled with brown spots that looked like fungus all over the goggles and mouth pipe thing, whatever it’s called. It was way gross, so clever me asked the person in charge for another kit, saying it was for my friend. And guess what I did with the gross gear? I passed it to Chia Yang saying, “Nah, I helped you to take one” and then bolted as fast as I could. Teeheeheeheehee!! I wonder what he did with it.

The new one I took wasn’t functioning properly. The goggles kind of broke at the side and water could seep in. Plus that pipe thing that you’re supposed to put in your mouth was taking in water, so half the time I was more concerned about keeping water out of my eyes AND breathing in AIR, not saltwater, than actually snorkeling and enjoying the “colourful” marine life. And u have no idea how much my eyes hurt ok. Silly goggles.

I got so fed up I asked Andrew to give me his gear. Andrew can be a real pain sometimes, but during times like these, he is the epitome of a gentleman! His gear was pretty ok, just that water could still seep into my mouth and my eyes too, although not as bad as the previous one. So off I went, “snorkeling”. (Most of the time I just walked in water anyway) But what would you know! The lovely fishes loved me SO much they even gave me lovebites all over my legs. If you’ve never experienced it, let me tell you that it’s pretty fun to be bitten by carnivorous fishes, in fact, SO fun that I even considered getting a bathtub at home filled with all these loony creatures and soaking in it all day long so that the scars on my legs would increase and I would be able to show everyone how much fishes love me. =.=”’ swt.

Oklah, to be fair to the fishes, they probably don’t know they’re biting humans. They probably think they’re eating bread, considering everyone was throwing bread at them like there’s no tomorrow. But their stupidity caused me so much pain and scars. (It’s still there if you wanna see it. Just ask me, haha )

And then there’s the prickly sand part. Heaven knows what kinds of rocks and thorn-like things they have on the seabed. I know lah, when you’re snorkeling you’re supposed to swim and use the flippers and not WALK, but swimming is impossible when you’re having a nose which hurts because you think you’re breathing with your mouth but actually you’re using your nose. So as if the fish bites weren’t enough, the seabed had to buat pasal also. So I used the flippers, but I discovered that I couldn’t walk, and at one point I almost drowned cause I couldn’t turn over with the flippers on after surfacing from the water. Ok, I’m exaggerating. But anyway, the flippers were really troublesome lah, but I can’t blame them, cause they don’t know what they’re doing. Haha. I suppose I need snorkeling lessons?

And then there’s the toilet. I mean, you won’t expect much from Malaysian toilets lah of course, but this was really bad. It stunk like hell and the flush wasn’t working and there was no lock on the door and although I didn’t notice it, one of my friends told me that the water from the pipes wasn’t exactly clean water, it was SALTWATER! Sigh. They’re probably too poor for clean water, so whatever lah. But really, if you want tourists to come visit and have a good impression of Malaysia, the LEAST you could do is jaga your toilets properly lah right. Malaysia Boleh. SO boleh I tell you.

OKOK I’m done griping. It wasn’t THAT bad lah ok, I’m just writing what I went through, but the whole experience was really kind of fun. I mean, I was pretty annoyed with the gear and the crazy fishes and all, but there were times when I managed to get underwater and snorkel for a while (holding my breath of course) and the marine life IS very interesting, trust me. Plus, having your friends there to go through the whole thing with makes it worthwhile. I would love to go back there again someday with the whole gang, but this time I’ll bring my own snorkeling gear and go when my best friend isn’t visiting (You gals know what I mean) ;p

LANGKAWI!!!!!!

Alrighty. The much awaited post on my first REAL chill-out time in what must have been years. okla, not that long lah, but then again, SPM has a way of making you feel so stressed out a break seems like heaven. So anyway, me and my friends left for Langkawi on our class trip on 8 dec. Came back on the 12, which is partly why i had to miss youth camp. To think that i almost missed Langkawi to go to New York...tsk tsk. Well, i suppose God works in ways we do not fathom. (Thank you God for not approving my aunt's visa). I can only say the trip was superb!! The beach was awesome, the banana boat was great fun, the hanging-out-with-friends was priceless, the food was heavenly, the laughter was earth-shattering, the bus ride was LOUD, and the tan was...well, brown. haha. Well, enough talk. I'll just show u some pics alright.

But you have no idea how many times we had to jump just to get the perfect shot. It was under the hot sun, and we were sweating, and the cameraman (cameraman sounds more professional than Yeoh Kean Seng) was hollering instructions, and we were tellin the somewhat unprofessional photographers (there were 2) when to click the button...it felt like a photoshoot!! But it was great fun! These are some of the failed attempts.

Shakers!

Planet Shakers was real awesome last night! Well, it wasn't as fun as last year cause last year we got to run all the way to the front and jump like siao (this year we were stuck at the back), but it was awesome just being there and worshipping God and jumping like giler. And i loved wat Ps Neil Smith said. For those of you at camp, I'll give you a little update on the sermon. Ps Neil gave an example on how he has been travelling on airplanes so many times, but he never bothered to pay attention when the flight attendant was giving the safety drill. He just took it for granted that no accident would happen and he would be safe everytime. And one day, it just hit him that if there really was to be an accident, he wouldn't know what to do or where to run to. It's kinda like our Christian life really. We tend to take our faith for granted sometimes. We've been in church all our lives and we think we know everything about God. But when storms n trials come, are we sure that we can stand firm on God's word and turn to Him? Can we weather the storm? It was a wake up call for me not to take things for granted...
OK well, Shakers was fun, but i wish i was at camp! I can just imagine the fun that everybody's having WITHOUT ME! ish. But i couldn't possibly have gone anyway. Coz i came back from Langkawi on the 12 and i was dead tired. Woke up at 2pm the next day and broke my personal record. I've got loads to blog about langkawi and loads of pics to show, but i need to wait for the camera battery to finish charging. Rats. ok, be back soon!!

ooooookay....here we go. Life post SPM. It's a new start, and i'm relishing every minute of sittinginfrontofthecomputeranddoingnothingelse-ness. Life has never felt THIS good, i'm tellin ya. I can't wait to get my life back! And i'm still trying to get the hang of this blog thing, so this is gonna be a short one. Will update soon, with more juicy and less boring stuff. Ciao.
