Heart pulsating, she jolts awake from her deep sleep, awakened by the deafening roar of the thunder and the blinding flash of lightning which she could perceive even with her eyes closed.

She tries to go back to sleep, but ends up being deafened once more by the raging thunder. Half asleep half palpitating, she tosses and turns in bed, wondering how her sister could possibly be as dead as a log beside her.

Thoughts race through her groggy mind. "Lord, is this the end of time?" (she knows it isn't because she will NOT be left behind. Besides, it isn't the first time she's been jolted awake from sleep in the middle of a storm thinking it's the end of time) "I hope there isn't any intruder in the house taking advantage of the noise, waiting with a parang in hand in the event i dare to venture out of my room" "I hope the computer won't be damaged cos I didn't pull the plug out of the socket." "Are my parents ok?" "Thunders are caused by two huge clouds with the same charge banging against each other"...

Suddenly, she hears noises coming from below. The clunk of the porcelain mug against the tiled kitchen counter. The familiar clap of the RM2 (or so) Japanese slippers on the kitchen floor as somebody walks about in it. All-too-familiar sounds, but in the middle of the night, especially in a thunderstorm, the usual everyday noises unnerve her. She sits up with a pounding heart, ears pricked like those of a cat's. She listens for more.

Then she hears the rice cooker lid coming down over the rice cooker, and through the cracks between the door, she sees a faint light streaming in, most probably coming from below the stairs. It is THEN that she realises...

"Haiyooo...it's mama in the kitchen lah!!" -.-"'

She plops back down on the bed, rolling her eyes at her silliness. Suddenly she thinks: "I have to blog about this!" And almost like magic, the words start coming. She writes everything down in her imaginary notepad, making sure she misses nothing out.

14 hours later, she sits at her computer, copying from that imaginary notepad.

Amazing, isn't it? The power of the mind in the middle of a storm......
