Just when we were in the car heading for dinner just now, my sister started talking about this one friend of hers whose mother kept pushing her to be good friends with my sister, apparently cos my sis "goes to church". I couldn't help exclaming:"YOU??! You're the one who stays at home watching cartoons on Saturday!" (ps: Those of you who have been bombarding me with questions about my sister's whereabouts on Saturday afternoons, here you go. She stays at home watching tv. So please, when you see her, do what sister Kim did:"Su Mei, no more watching cartoons on Saturdays arh!!" hahahha...I'd LOVE to see the look on her face when all her friends tell her that. Don't tell her you found out from me though. hahahah...)

So anyway, I was gonna talk about my sister's friend. Apparently she has this boyfriend who started kissing her in the kitchen and then her granddad found out and told her mom, which is how the whole "follow Su Mei to church" thing came about. But I'm more concerned about these little kids nowadays. Dude, they're kissing at 13. What is the world coming to? When I was 13 I was borrowing correction tape from my neighbour in Chinese class. (oh, don't try to understand. You wouldn't. Only Siyan will, and May Tan Mei Wan too, i think *wink*) Oh, and besides kissing, this girl also had to choose between two guys who liked her, and the current boyfriend apparently told her he'd kill himself if she didn't choose him. I'm supposed to be concerned I know, but I couldn't help cracking up. Even now as I'm typing this. Man, this is better than a korean soap opera! Kids these days...tsk tsk...

So anyway, this is meant for 13 year old kids: Concentrate on being single lah. 13 year old guys just aren't worth it. Just take it from my sis' friend. I mean, they're thinking of killing themselves at that age, they give YOU an ultimatum to be THEIR girlfriend instead of the other way round. "Be my girlfriend or else!"...C'mon lah!

Randominity: I finally bought Jung Chang's Wild Swans today. Yippee! Oh, and kids, there is NO such word as randominity. Do NOT use it in your essays.

I'm going to KDU in June, just for your information. I thank God for the open door, but at the same time I can't help wishing I didn't get the scholarship, just so I'd get a shot at the US. But oh well. Looks like I'm gonna be stuck here in Malaysia for another 2.5 years at least. You guys will be seeing more of me. (better thank God for that ;p)

WHY OH WHY isn't my creative juices flowing at the moment??

You know there's something I really don't get about the USA. It is pretty obvious that allowing people to buy guns off the rack without proper license spells trouble, even if, say, there has never been a bloodbath involving guns in the past to prove that it's dangerous to allow any tom dick and harry to buy a gun. I mean, come on. Any person thinking logically would be able to figure that out, and yet, even after thousands of cases of homicide and suicide and even after the Columbine School shootings, the US still allows people to buy guns if they want to, as long as they're above 18. I just don't get it. Look what happened. Leniency isn't always rosy-cosy ok. And to think I was even considering going to university in Virginia, one of the easiest places to buy guns! duuuude.

So anyway, I was just swimming in my own thoughts about the latest shooting (probably more to come if they don't do something major about the whole lack of gun control NOW) and so I browsed around for more info on the shooting and I also found some stuff that really baffled and horrified me. Feed on this:

~The Brady campaign - named after Jim Brady who was wounded in the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan - says there are an estimated 193 million guns in America while some estimates range as high as 250 million, almost one gun for every man, woman and child in the US.

~Current federal law requires criminal background checks only for guns sold by licensed firearm dealers, which account for just 60% of gun sales. This means that two of every five guns acquired in the US change hands without a background check. This includes guns bought at gun shows, through classified ads, and between individuals. There are between 2,000 and 5,000 gun shows held every year.

~According to the pro-gun control group, the Brady Campaign, gun shows are largely unregulated arms bazaars held around the country where the public is able to purchase firearms from both licensed and unlicensed dealers. The US justice department describes gun shows as "a forum for illegal firearms sales and trafficking". The two students behind the Columbine high school killings in 1999 were under 18, but managed to buy weapons at a gun show because they had a friend with them who was 18.

Why isn't anything being done about this??

I also read Cho's English plays which he wrote before he went on that shooting rampage. If you're interested, just google "Richard McBeef" or "Mr. Brownstone". I won't comment about the stuff he wrote because clearly, the guy was going through a lot. It was evident enough just through reading his assignments. I just wish he had known Jesus...

I hope my aunt and uncle are doing fine in New York.
I hope Siyan's safe.
I hope the Asians in the US will not be treated differently because of what happened.
I hope the victims' families are coping well.
I hope the family of the killed Indonesian who sold their car and possesions to finance his education are doing well.
I hope things will change for the better.

I feel really sorry for everyone involved and implicated in this shooting, but I'm also feeling, I dunno, guilty? for not being able to do anything MORE than just feel sorry for them and campaigning for US gun law changes on my blog(har har) It's always the case with me when some tragedy happens, you know, always feeling like I should somehow be able to literally FEEL what they're going through rather than sit here and rant and feel sorry and not DO something about it. But oh well, I could pray? =) And please, if you're reading this, do remember them in your prayers. Especially the Indonesian who got killed. I just felt super sorry for the family.

Pretty depressing post huh. I'll leave you to swim in your own thoughts now =)

I figured since I'm posting pictures, I might as well finish posting the pictures I've been wanting to post but never did either because I was too lazy or cos camera no batt.

These are the blackies at Rangers Sel#1 CNY party which was held, er, a long time agoThey were actually planning to kidnap some of the kids in red, but they forgot to bring their weapons, and they discovered that the kids were actually having so much fun, so instead of intimidating and tormenting them, the kidnappers ended up being infected by the red spirit and became monkeys themselves. Thus the stupid poses.

Then they got bored...Ok, lame story without ending, but you can't tell a good story with 3 meaningless pictures ok! haha...

Then there's my neighbour's kid, Ah Hong and his cousin Desiree.Itu dia!! Bona fide, certified-true, government-endorsed, FBI-trained kidnappers. THEY're the REAL deal lah. The Rangers CNY party kidnappers just now? Bah, bogus kidnappers, Untrained and unskilled. Check out these two. If you ever wanna kidnap someone, hire THEM.

Reggae explosion, dude!!
Then there are my nieces and nephews, acrobats trained in China, currently based in Russia. They put up an amazing and splendid show especially for me in conjunction with CNY(and also because I'm a big-time VIP in their books). Just, wow! Look at them! Breathtaking moves! Death-defying stunts! Awe-inspiring creativity!! Just, Brilliant!!
Meet the fans (or rather, meet the fan) session after their amazing performance. I was star-struck, i tell you! I couldn't even bear to take a picture with my heroes because I was speechless and I'd start trembling in excitement if i got too near them. So I had to take pictures OF them, and not WITH them...
~ THE END ~

Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen.

Oh Lord You’ve searched me
You know my way
Even when I fail You
I know You love me

Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me

At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There’s no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now

You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me

You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done

And when the earth fades
Falls from my eyes
And You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me

We were singing this song for P&W in church today, and for some reason the tears just came. I've sung this song many times before actually, but I've never felt like crying. Today, however, was different. Maybe it's because it's Resurrection Sunday, or simply because God was speaking to me in a whole different way. Whatever it is, this song really touched me today, and I hope it'll touch you too, even as you read the lyrics. I'm so glad I have a saviour. I'm so glad He died on the cross for my sins. I'm so glad He loves me no matter what, even when I fail Him. I'm so glad I have someone to turn to even in my darkest hour. And I'm so glad He's alive and real today!! Thank you Jesus! None can compare to You!

I'll never know how much it cost to see my sins upon the cross...

*****

On another note, I'm glad Good Friday and Easter is over. That means no more stressing over presentations. No more rushing to church for practices. No more calling him and her and everyone in between to get this and that and those done. No more worrying about what colours the dancers will be wearing. Phew! What a relief! But. I just realised one thing. NO MORE WEDNESDAY PASAR MALAM AFTER PRACTICE!! NO MORE COFFEE ZHEN ZHU NAI CHA!!! BOOHOOO!!! XD hahaha...

It's a great feeling when something you've been planning and brewing and concocting in that little head of yours for months finally materializes, without any major glitch or screwups. I'm so glad everything turned out well for Good Friday and Easter. Thank God! A special thank you to each and everyone of you who volunteered to get involved (and even those who were coerced into it...) Your reward will be in heaven! =) God bless yah!

Tagged? yeah.

Each player of this game starts out by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.

1. I do not eat anything that starts with tau. taufu, taukee, taupok, taukua, tauhueh. (The exception being taugeh. THAT one i gobble down like a ravaged beast)
2. I prefer lizards to cockroaches.
3. I've been using my patchwork blanket ever since a long long time ago.
4. I do not like being licked by dogs, especially smelly ones.
5. I don't eat popcorn at the movies.
6. I think I have short-term memory lost.

Okiez, now these 6 people are tagged.
